【摘要】:Theseareacceleratedengineoiltests(knownasthe1Kand1Ntestprocedures),performedinastandardized,calibrated,stationarysingle-cylinderdieselengineusingeither0.4%sulfurfuel(1Ktest)or0.04%sulfurfuel(1Ntest),thatgiveameasureof(1)pistonandringgroovedepositformingtendency,(2)piston,ringandlinerscuffingand(3)oilconsumption.The1Ktestwascorrelatedwithvehiclesequippedwithcertainmulti-cylinderdirectinjectionenginesusedinheavydutyandhighspeedservicepriorto1989,particularlywithrespecttoaluminumpistondeposits,andoilconsumption,whenfuelsulfurwasnominally0.4%bymass.ThesedataaregiveninResearchReportRR:D02-1273.8The1Ntesthasbeenusedtopredictpistondepositformationinfour-strokecycle,directinjection,dieselenginesthathavebeencalibratedtomeet1994U.S.federalexhaustemissionrequirementsforheavy-dutyenginesoperatedonfuelcontaininglessthan0.05%masssulfur.SeeResearchReportRR:D02-1321.8ThesetestmethodsareusedintheestablishmentofdieselengineoilspecificationrequirementsascitedinSpecificationD4485forappropriateAPIPerformanceCategoryoils(API1509).Thesetestmethodsarealsousedindieselengineoildevelopment.1.1Thesetestmethodscovertheperformanceofengineoilsintendedforuseincertaindieselengines.Theyareperformedinastandardizedhigh-speed,single-cylinderdieselenginebyeitherthe1K(0.4%fuelsulfur)or1N(0.04%fuelsulfur)procedure.Theonlydifferenceinthetwotestmethodsisthefuelused.Pistonandringgroovedeposit-formingtendencyandoilconsumptionaremeasured.Also,thepiston,therings,andthelinerareexaminedfordistressandtheringsformobility.ThesetestmethodsarerequiredtoevaluateoilsintendedtosatisfyAPIservicecategoriesCF-4andCH-4for1K,andCG-4for1NofSpecificationD4485.1.2Thesetestmethods,althoughbasedontheoriginalCaterpillar1K/1Nprocedures,alsoembodyTMCinformationlettersissuedbeforethesetestmethodswerefirstpublished.Thesetestmethodsaresubjecttofrequentchange.Untilthenextrevisionofthesetestmethods,TMCwillupdatechangesinthesetestmethodsbytheissuanceofinformationletterswhichshallbeobtainedfromTMC(seeAnnexA15).1.3&combined-units;Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Specificprecautionarystatementsappearthroughoutthetext.Beingenginetests,thesetestmethodsdohavedefinitehazardsthatshallbemetbysafepractices(seeonSafetyPrecautions).1.4ThefollowingistheTableofContents:
